IGWN mailing lists¶
@ligo.org
lists¶
LIGO uses Sympa to manage many mailing lists used across LIGO-specific and joint IGWN groups. Collaboration members should navigate to
to see the list of available lists, and links to manage their subscriptions and view list archives.
Subscribing to @ligo.org
mailing lists¶
Manage your subscriptions

@ligo.org
mailing list topics¶
Some @ligo.org
mailing lists have topics
to which you can subscribe and send. After subscribing to a list (e.g. cbc@ligo.org
) you can see the list of topics available for that list in your subscriber options (e.g. https://sympa.ligo.org/wws/suboptions/cbc). If you want to subscribe to only some topics on the list, or to only mail with no topic tags (i.e. Other), you can select them on that page.
Getting everything!
If you want to receive everything sent to the list, with or without a topic tag, do not select anything on the topics page.
To send email to a topic, you add a +topic
tag to the listname, e.g. cbc+pe@ligo.org
. The topic must be configured to be recognized by the mailing list before this will work. Only mailing list moderators can request new topics for a list (using the computing helpdesk). A message with a valid topic will have the topic tag added to the subject line of the email after the list name (e.g. email to cbc+pe@ligo.org
with subject My subject
will be distributed to subscribers with the subject [cbc][pe] My subject
).
Requesting a new @ligo.org
mailing list¶
LIGO.ORG account holders can request a new @ligo.org
mailing list by completing this short form (ensure you are using your LIGO.ORG google identity to access the form).
Virgo lists¶
The Virgo Collaboration uses Mailman to manage mailing lists. Collaboration members should navigate to http://mail.virgo.infn.it/mailman/
to see the list of available lists and links to manage their subscriptions and view list archives.
